Tips and Tricks
Every single piece of tackle you buy has been specifically designed to work right out of the package. Some tackle works better than others - some catch fisherman and not fish. There are literally hundreds of things an angler can do to give salmon something a little different to look at or enhance the performance of gear while in the water. With that said, there is nothing conclusive about salmon fishing- nothing. Fishing for salmon changes day to day, week to week, month to month, and even year to year. Just when we've thought we have it figured out and the fishing is good for a couple of days something changes and we could go a couple of days without catching anything! Fish move and so do their "artifical" tastes. It never fails. Even in the years to come there will be still be a lot to learn about salmon and their characteristics. However, learning a few tricks with baits along the way will enable an angler the extra advantage while on the water.
When you fish areas considered "hot spots," these areas are generally spots where the fishing is consistently good year around. Whether they are feeding stations (areas where bait frequently concentrates) or areas of migration, one thing is for sure, there's usually a ton of anglers on the water with you- side by side (especially the summer months). In these specific areas, the term "fishing" and "competition" mean the exact same. One thing most anglers do not realize is every angler is fishing nearly the same depths, nearly the same lures or bait at the same time. So what do you need to do to separate yourself from the competition? We can always fish a different area or fish the same baits with a little twist...
