Salmon Plugs

There's something special about collecting old salmon tackle.  I started collecting some years ago when I was going through an old wooden tackle box once owned by Grandpa Abbott.  Not only did I find some interesting things, but found I wanted to retain the lore and love of our former anglers.  More importantly, the old tackle brought back many memories of fishing with grandpa and "snooping" in his basement.  I am always searching for more plugs and spoons...

I am not an expert, but can give you a real good idea on the value of your plugs or old spoons.  Feel free to email me with a quality picture: Captain_Downriggins@comcast.net

I do not and will not sell any of my collection, but I am willing to take them off your hands!  I prefer mint condition plugs with correct boxes, however I will accept unique or rare plugs/colors with or without boxes.  My offers are very respectful and generous compared to most collectors.

Here are a few of my favorites

Pallister (Pallister Plug Company - Sooke, B.C.)

I recently obtained this signed Pallister from the estate of the late Jack Randall.  Pallister plugs were designed for and sought after by Canadian commercial fishermen in the early 1940's.   Although it is not known how many plugs were produced (speculated 6,000 to 10,000), Pallister plugs in this condition are considered "rare" among collectors.   Adding to the rarity is founder/owner Jack E. Pallister's  signature and "Made in 1942"  on the plug.   It has been passed to me that are were approximately 2 or 3 dozen ever signed by Jack, (I personally have seen one other signed by Pallister.) but it is not known exactly how many have survived the last 66-years.
